Power, Revenge, Connections, Guilt

Is it the guilt that makes me a good person, or is it the guilt that holds me back from being a force to be reckoned with?

***to be clear, I didn't do anything revengeful, I just felt like a little revenge had been served on my behalf.

Maybe neither. Maybe you are just a good person, whose conscience leads you in a path that you feel good about.

I don't think guilt makes a person good. It can hold you back, though. I like Heatherlyn's choice of the word "conscience."

Oh man, what a loaded question! Guilt/conscience is what holds me back from a lot of stuff.

Maybe both> I don't think guilt is bad , it reminds us of sorrow for past mistakes and stupid decisions, on the other hand too much of it can cause wallowing...never a productive state! Either way, I hope you are learning what you need to be so it doesn't have to happen again ;-)

That IS a loaded question, but one that Elder Oaks seems to address in a lot of his Conference talks. He has us seek out the inner person and inner motives. I think sometimes we do things out of a little of both.

I'm not sure I can answer this very well...

first of all...I am working REALLY hard to fight the guilt every single day, so I am no expert. But I have learned that doing anything out of guilt usually breeds resentment which makes for a pretty bitter person...and that always holds you back from being a force to be reckoned with. so...no more guilt! You are good enough, strong enough and beautiful enough just the way you are! Lose the guilt! Be a force to be reckoned with and feel good about doing it authentically instead of out of guilt driven actions!

my life is ruled by guilt. I hate that.

But now I want to know what happened.
