I'm not trying to trivialize the economic state of our country, but I refuse to let the news tell me to be afraid.
Its Friday. Turn off the news today. Don't listen to NPR, don't listen to talk radio (except you Ramona, I know you HAVE TO...)don't engage in "the economy is making me so nervous" conversations. Spend one day committed to living your life without the news telling you what your life is like. See if you can stretch it into an entire weekend. Don't you have some shopping to do? Go, do it. And have a HAPPY weekend.

i like this..i have tried not to you, i certainly haven't quit spending money lol
I love this idea! I've kept the TV and talk radio off all week and must tell you, I have felt happier! (except for Wednesday when Cat chopped her bangs like Mia Farrow....)
I actually have been doing this the last week. I stopped watching the news, adn I am living normally. Although, normally for me is still frugal, at least I don't feel like I have to cut back even more.
I never watch the news. I do glance at the headlines online. But ... the real scare about the recession for me is knowing people who are personally affected. A lot more recently than before seem to have precarious job positions, if any at all. My husband has been getting more requests about whether or not his company is hiring. And they have so many applicants they have gotten terribly picky about who they hire. It all makes me a bit nervous. And that has nothing to do with watching the news. I hate the news.
Not much has really changed for us in the spending department because of the recession. We didn't have much to spend before and we don't have much to spend now. So our habits really haven't changed. I do think I'll not listen to or watch the news today though. That is a good idea.
Ughhh...I am much happier when I don't watch the news. Have a wonderful (news free :) weekend!
I Totally agree with you on this. I really believe the newscasters just make it sound worse than it is...scare people out of spending money...and make the economy worse. I say go out and SPEND that money to show your patriotism and help the economy!
Amen Sister!!
We have been participating in the NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS for a while now.
Thanks for bringing it up!
Smile, be happy.
(Whether you feel like it or not.) That's our motto.
Cause sooner or later the smile is real...
I stimulated the economy today at Target, Old Navy and Carter's. I hope it helped!
Oh and Rubio's.
Great thoughts - I have decided to do this for a whole week!
